Countertop Review
This time last year I was packing up our house to prepare for our down-to-the-studs renovation in our kitchen, family room, and master bath as well as the addition of a screened porch. The family room wasn't originally part of the plan, but that's a post for another time. The kitchen was where I really had to plan and scheme, and, yes even fret, to stay in our footprint and budget and to get the function and look I wanted. I love a challenge like this, though, so despite some occasional frustration with my client (aka me! ), I enjoyed the process. A key "want" of mine was honed marble countertops. There are dozens--maybe hundreds--of blog posts, articles, and showroom sites that compare various types of countertop materials and their pros and cons. I read most of them and took notes from a lot of them in the months leading up to our start date. One of the most helpful things was visiting a sweet friend's kitchen, where I was able to ask questions about cleaning, a
Hello:
ReplyDeleteThis looks simply wonderful. You have so clearly put a great deal of thought and time into the laying of the table and the result is, in our view, absolutely marvellous - springlike and attractive, your guests will be delighted.
We do feel that it is always worth making a special effort on occasions, such as Easter, for so much of the rest of the time life is something of a compromise.
Absolutely gorgeous table! Right up my alley in all its blue and white glory! Love all the moss accents...beautiful. Family coming in later today..no cooking though, since we are out of our house, we are going out for brunch and out for dinner and though some might be jealous that I have the "day off" part of me misses the prepping, shopping and setting the table....I happen to enjoy it all, but since we sold our house so fast we ended up having to rent and my stove is on the blink here and is not condusive to cooking for 14 people so reservations were made!! I do look forward however to next year...important thing is we are all together...Happy Easter to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I hope you have a wonderful and happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty table you have set! It will delight your family, I am sure. This year we are fortunate to have been invited by friends to a Russian Orthodox Easter party, which coincides with the Western church's Easter this year. I am dreaming of caviar and blinis and ice-cold vodka and champagne!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I'm using blue and white plates with green placemats, napkins, etc (surprise, surprise...blue & green, my signature combo). I'm not nearly so talented, just some white and green flowers and mini robins eggs in the hurricane lamps. It will be just J2,3,4 and J2's boyfriend (J1 is in Houston). Since DOTR has to drive the golf cart at 6 am for the sunrise service and I have to sing at 8, 9 and 11:15, I'll be busy today with the preparations. I've already done some of it--we looked at what we had in the freezer and decided on pork tenderloin. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYour table is very pretty! We are having our children for Easter brunch and I am setting the table with a white tablecloth, cute blue-striped napkins, rattan chargers, white Wedgewood Countryware, Mother's sterling, some old Fostoria water goblets, and antique handpainted small blue tumblers for Mimosas and vintage blue glass dessert plates. I love mixing everything up and think the rattan chargers make it all look more casual and modern. Have a wonderful Easter!

Beautiful. I have always liked what you do with your house on the holidays. Ever since that first Christmas when I started reading your blog. Happy Easter to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely!
ReplyDeleteEaster blessings and joy to you and your family,
Sandy
Your blue willow table is perfect. Blue Willow is one pattern I use every day. I have a couple of old pieces, which I don't use everyday, but my every day willow is Churchill, which I got from Kroger. Don't have to worry about damaging it. :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to tell you, I'm your newest follower,
I'm going back to look at some of your other posts.

How fun that each guest got their own little eggs...and in sterling silver mint dishes? A family heirloom? Love the blue and white.
